Swan Energy mourns the loss of its founder, Andrew Park.

Swan Energy News - Andrew Park

It is with great sadness that the Swan Energy team announces the passing of its Founder and Managing Director, Andrew Park.

After a short period of ill health, Andrew passed away peacefully on Friday 19th January, aged 74. His loving wife Jan, along with other family members, were at his side.

Having graduated from the University of Salford in 1970 as a Mechanical Engineer, Andrew’s career flourished working for nearly 20 years as Energy Manager for Asda and in various consultancy roles. In his 50s, Andrew decided to set up his own consultancy business and in 1998 Swan Energy was incorporated.  His career track record and industry contacts were a strong foundation for the early success of Swan, and over the past 25 years, the business has steadily grown and works with clients across the UK. Andrew led the business throughout, building a reputation second to none for supporting clients with their mandatory carbon compliance and reporting.

Swan Energy’s Claire said:

‘I have known Andrew and his family for over 30 years now and worked alongside Andrew at Swan for the last 10 years. With his leadership and guidance we have seen the business grow and prosper to become one of the UK’s foremost ETS reporters.

As well as being a shrewd businessman, Andrew was one of a kind and a good friend to us all. He was such a knowledgeable man, who was so generous with his time and support for the team. He will be greatly missed and remembered warmly by us all.”

Towards the end of 2023, Andrew transferred his family shares in the Swan Energy business to a newly formed Swan Energy Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) – Swan Energy Trustee Limited. This enabled the Park family to exit the business, whilst allowing the business to continue to prosper and operate as it always has done. This move is now feeling especially poignant and an important legacy.

Our Operations Manager, Joe Youldon, said:

“We are so very sad about the news of Andrew’s passing, and we would like to thank everyone who has been in touch, for their kind words and memories. The genuine messages coming in have been lovely to read and we will make sure we pass them onto his family.

We would like to reassure clients that we will continue to operate as usual. Andrew was so proud of Swan Energy and wanted to guarantee a sustainable, future-proof business – which the new business model enables. The team is currently working hard preparing ETS reports for the 2023 reporting year and will continue to provide the highest quality service throughout 2024 and beyond.”
